Jason Macomson, DVM 
 

Jason is a veterinarian at Lavonia Animal Hospital, where he has worked in several capacities since graduating from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Lavonia Animal Hospital is his home away from home, and he first began working there in 1986 when he was only about 12 years old.

He has also worked in various roles in public education.  He was a high school science teacher at Franklin County High School from 2000-2007, where he was Teacher of the Year for the school and district, as well as being chosen STAR Teacher. He also chaired the high school SACS reaccreditation team and served on the school improvement team. As an assistant principal at Franklin County Middle School (2007-2012), he worked in many administrative capacities, including serving as the school’s athletic director.  

Jason is a former elected member of the Lavonia City Council (2004-2007) and the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, where he served as both Commissioner (2017-2020) and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners (2021-2022).  He also served terms on the board of the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter and the Franklin County Board of Elections.
