Paul Jackson Brooks, PharmD, EdD
 

Dr. Paul J. Brooks had a 35-year career in pharmacy practice management, academia, and higher education administration before his retirement in 2024, especially at the University of Georgia (UGA).

Among his many faculty and administrative appointments at UGA, Paul served as Interim Director of the University of Georgia Innovation District, Associate Vice President for Public Service & Outreach, Adjunct Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy Assistant Dean of Nontraditional Education & Outreach, Graduate Coordinator of College of Pharmacy Biopharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs and Senior Public Service Associate of the College of Pharmacy. Earlier in his career, he served as a clinical instructor at Auburn University and UGA and as a clinical assistant professor at the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy.

He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta in 1987 and his Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from UGA in 2010. He completed a postdoctoral residency in general clinical pharmacy practice at Huntsville Hospital and a fellowship in adult internal medicine pharmacy practice research at UGA.

His public service and outreach (PSO) experience included leading initiatives to strengthen engagement between academia and communities; overseeing faculty programs, student assistantships, and professional development initiatives; serving on the Engagement Scholarship Consortium Board of Directors, 2010-2013; and serving as associate editor of the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement, 2016-2024.
